Deena holds an LL.B (Honours) Bachelor of Laws, an LL.M Master of Laws and was called to the Bar of England and Wales, at the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, and in the Republic of Mauritius. Deena is an alumni of Clavis International Primary School and the Loreto College of Port Louis.
Deena’s main area of practice is child and family law, dealing inter alia with issues such as divorce, child custody, child visitation, alimony, taking the child outside the jurisdiction and domestic violence. Deena also does criminal and civil litigation and appeals, bail applications and hearings, assists clients in police enquiries, committees and boards.
Deena did her pupillage with a Senior Counsel, a Senior Attorney and at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions under the supervision of the then Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, now a Supreme Court Judge.
In Academia, Deena is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in the UK, and was previously the Head of the Faculty of Law and Criminology, as well as a Lecturer in Law and Module Co-ordinator at Aberystwyth University (Mauritius Branch Campus). Her teaching expertise spans across Criminal Law, Evidence, Equity and the Law of Trusts, Family Law, Tort Law and Medical Law. Deena was the Lecturer of the Year at Aberystwyth University in 2018-2019. Deena is also an expert for Mauritius in the World Bank’s Women Business and the Law Family Law Project.
A dedicated, hardworking and intelligent attorney at law, Nuz’hah studied law at Aberystwyth University from 2016 to 2018 and graduated with an LL.B (Honours) Bachelor of Laws. She was Me. Deena Bhoyroo’s student and personal tutee, and later a mini pupil/legal intern at Me. Bhoyroo’s office whereat Me. Bhoyroo and Me. Kureemun developed a trustworthy and highly effective work bond. Nuz’hah studied the Law Practitioners Vocational Course (LPVC) at the Council for Vocational Legal Education (CVLE) from 2018 to 2019, and passed the attorney exams at the very first attempt in 2019. After completing her pupillage with a Senior Attorney, Nuz’hah was sworn in as an attorney at law in the Republic of Mauritius. Nuz’hah is an alumni of Dr. Maurice Curé State College.
